I worked as an EMT in Las Vegas for several years before starting my graduate program in Phoenix, Arizona. My history as an EMT strongly influenced my interests in psychology directing me toward my work in crisis, stress, trauma, substance abuse, and neuropsychology. Clinically I have enjoyed both psychotherapy and testing but I have spent more time performing therapy. I have acted as the AzPA representative for Arizona District 29 and have had the chance to talk one-on-one with my legislators regarding issues that influence the practice of psychology locally. I developed multiple presentations based on my Stress and Coping in EMS research and have had the opportunity to talk to EMTs, Paramedics, and Clinicians on ways to reduce stress and increase coping skills in the EMS work force.
